Frequently asked questions about the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany

Use this FAQ to learn more about the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany. You can also contact your account manager for additional information.

Microsoft Cloud Germany combines an instance of Microsoft's industry-leading cloud services with a unique system management architecture and dedicated network located within Germany.

Under this unique model, the Data Trustee, an independent German company, controls access to customer data and doesn't share it with third parties except as directed by the customer or required by German law. This is also referred to as Data Sovereignty.

Partners in the European Union (EU), European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and United Kingdom (UK) are eligible for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany and can sell to customers in EU, EFTA, and UK.

The CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany is different than CSP Commercial in the following areas:

  • Eligibility: The CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany is available only to partners in EU, EFTA, and UK.
  • Onboarding: Partners need to onboard to the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany separately from CSP Commercial.
  • Licensing: Licensing documents for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany are updated to reflect the role of the Data Trustee. Additional information about licensing changes is noted below.
  • Partner Center functionality: Certain features of Partner Center will not be enabled for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany in order to meet data sovereignty requirements. Partners can use Microsoft Online Portal (MOP) or Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) or Graph API instead.

Microsoft Cloud Reseller Agreement (MCRA) and Microsoft Cloud Distributor Agreement (MCDA) for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany differ from the Commercial MCRA and Commercial MCDA in the following two ways:

  • They require customers to receive the Microsoft Cloud Agreement (MCA) for German Cloud with Supplement to Online Service Terms for German Cloud
  • They include modifications to customer data requirements

MCA for German Cloud differs from the Commercial MCA in the following two ways:

  • It includes the Supplement to Online Services Terms, which includes additional data protection commitments by Microsoft for data residency, role of the data trustee, and access to customer data
  • It includes the Data Trustee Agreement. Attachment 1 to the supplement contains a Customer-Data Trustee Agreement, by which T-Systems makes commitments directly to customer regarding control of and access to customer data

Qualification criteria to sell the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany is the same as the qualification criteria for CSP Commercial, open to both Direct Partners and Indirect Resellers. You do not need to be re-nominated to be an Indirect Reseller for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany if you are approved as an Indirect Reseller for the CSP Program in Commercial.

Partners will need to onboard to the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany. (Onboarding for Microsoft Cloud Germany is separate from onboarding for CSP Commercial). Once onboarded, you can create customers and transact offers available within Microsoft Cloud Germany. If you are leveraging APIs, please see more information below on APIs.

Yes. The partner discounting model for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany is same as partner discounting model for CSP Commercial.

No. Partner incentives for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany are same as partner incentives for CSP Commercial. To learn more about partner incentives, visit the MPN portal for the latest information.

No. Billing criteria and requirements for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany are same as billing criteria and requirements for CSP Commercial. To learn more about billing, review the Resources section on the MPN portal.

Once you are approved as a partner for CSP MCD, you can sell to any commercial customer in EU, EFTA, and UK.

At launch, Microsoft Office 365 Germany and Microsoft Azure Germany will be available. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Germany (CRMOL) is planned for Q2CY17. We will add other services as they become available.

Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and fundamental platform and data offerings are available now. The roadmap is updated on an ongoing basis and we will provide documentation like documentation for CSP Commercial within Partner Center (authentication required).

APIs and integration requirements for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany are identical to APIs and integration requirements for CSP Commercial. Information about endpoints in Microsoft Cloud Germany can be found here: Partner Center REST URLs.

Please note that CREST APIs will not be available for the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany. These APIs are in the process of being deprecated in CSP Commercial and therefore not available for Microsoft Cloud Germany.

Following APIs will not be available in the CSP Program for Microsoft Cloud Germany. This is to meet data sovereignty requirements.

Partners can use Microsoft Online Portal (MOP), the Azure Portal, Azure AD PowerShell, or the Graph API for partner user account management and license management. Please refer to link below for additional technical information: Developing with Partner Center for German Cloud

In order to facilitate and maintain the integrity of the isolation of Microsoft Cloud Germany, there are no mechanisms to move a customer’s existing Microsoft Cloud environment into Microsoft Cloud Germany. If a customer/partner has an Office 365, Azure, or Dynamics CRM online environment, they will be responsible for any data moves into new environment within Microsoft Cloud Germany.
